Water supply and loss: Garden ponds have numerous water sources. The main four, however, are rain, inflows, surface runoffs and ground water. The levels of pollution in these ponds affect the ecosystem present in these ponds. Inflows and groundwater feed water ponds often found in rural gardens.

For urban ponds, tap water, rainwater and surface runoff. Waters from these ponds, however, is lost through evaporation. Garden ponds are accessible in numerous landscape modes around the globe about their traditions.
